Diabetes Educator Golden Grove
The educational approach to Diabetes is to improve knowledge and information for the best self-care skills, including awareness of when to seek extra support from the Diabetes Health team. The topics covered are around life with diabetes from newly diagnosed to commencing glucose monitoring, healthy living, appropriate food choices and the benefits of daily exercise to commencing various injectable medications and the ups and downs of glucose and how to manage it.
Viju Vyas, a credential Diabetes Educator with a background qualification of Nursing and Diabetes education. Viju has 4 years of experience within allied health sectors and the wider community as well as a passion of serving within the indigenous community.
Viju studied Registered Nursing and graduated from Flinders University in 2017; and later on, completed a post Graduate Diploma within Diabetes Management and education in 2020, allowing her to expand the breadth of her existing knowledge and skills in diabetes management. Viju is also offering a free trial of CGM (Continuous Glucose Monitoring) from Libre2 for eligible clients
Special Interest: Education in pre-diabetes, Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes, also available to do home visit if required.
